Pearl Lagoon is a fun matching balls-style puzzle game set on a series of different paradise islands.
It plays out in a similar way to other colored ball Java games such as SameGame and JawBreaker. In the case of Pearl Lagoon you need to make combinations of three or more colored pearls in order to remove them from the game board (which takes the form of a lagoon).
In Pearl Lagoon, you must move a line of pearls at a time (i.e. you can't move pearls individually) to make combos. You score points based on the number of balls in a grouping, and there are multipliers for getting more than one group at the same time. The ultimate aim of each level of Pearl Lagoon is to match a certain number of black ball groups. Only once you've made this number can you progress.
There's an unlockable Zen Mode within Pearl Lagoon, where you have no time limit, no enemy and no game over, meaning you can carry on for as long as you like.
Graphically, Pearl Lagoon won't win any prizes for special effects and the small scale of the pearls means you have to squint a bit.
Overall though, Pearl Lagoon is an enjoyable timewaster which becomes difficult to put down.
